Bliss after Bertha Young

The other day, I was talking to my students about the story ‘Bliss’ by Katherine Mansfield, and the idea of bliss and how it can be experienced, but not expressed. I told them that while it may seem like a paradox, it is actually possible to experience a state of bliss without being able to express it.

In the story, Bertha Young is overcome with a feeling of bliss as she looks around her garden and marvels at the beauty of her surroundings. She is so overwhelmed with joy that she can’t even put it into words. This is the kind of bliss that I was talking to my students about – a feeling that you can feel, but not express.

I then told them about my own experiences of bliss. One of my happiest memories was when I was a young boy and went camping with my father. I remember lying in my sleeping bag, looking up at the stars and feeling so at peace and content with my life and the world around me. Even though I could never put it into words, I knew that I was experiencing a true state of bliss.

Another time I experienced bliss was when I was swimming in the Disang river . The sun was setting, and the water was so warm and inviting. As I swam, I felt a strong connection to nature that was hard to put into words, but it made me feel so alive and grateful for being able to experience this moment.

Finally, I shared with my students how I experience bliss whenever I write or see movie. Whenever I get completely lost in a creative project, I feel a sense of joy and fulfillment that is hard to describe but feels incredible nonetheless. There is something special about knowing that you are creating something beautiful from your own imagination.

After discussing these stories with my students, we all agreed on one thing – bliss is an indescribable state that can only be experienced. It can’t be expressed in words, but it can be felt in moments of beauty and connection with nature or in creative pursuits.

No matter what brings you joy or what makes your heart swell with happiness, always remember to take time to appreciate those moments and let yourself feel that sense of bliss. It is a beautiful thing to experience and will bring you much happiness if you allow yourself to really dive into it.

Beauty Sells

The title suddenly came to me when by accident I saw a girl whom I don't know but saw her in my vicinity. She had a story of her own to tell the world but she overcame all her odds. She is beautiful and cool and calm. So beauty sells.

But what is beauty? Is it just skin deep, or does it go beyond that? Is it something that can be objectively measured, or is it in the eye of the beholder?

Perhaps beauty is not just about physical appearance, but about the confidence and strength that comes from overcoming adversity. The girl I saw may have had a difficult journey, but her beauty radiated from within. It was not just her appearance that caught my attention, but the way she carried herself, with grace and poise.

In a world where we are constantly bombarded with images of what is considered beautiful, it can be easy to forget that true beauty comes from within. It is not something that can be bought or sold, but something that is earned through hard work and perseverance.

And yet, despite this, beauty still sells. It is a powerful marketing tool, used to sell everything from cosmetics to cars. But perhaps the real power of beauty lies not in its ability to sell products, but in its ability to inspire us to be our best selves.

So the next time you see something that catches your eye, take a moment to think about what it is that makes it beautiful. Is it just the surface level appearance, or is there something deeper that draws you in? And remember, true beauty comes from within, and it is something that we all have the power to cultivate.

Eroding hopes !

Title: "Eroding Hopes, Unbreakable Spirits: Stories from Disangmukh's Riverbank"

The people of Disangmuk never imagined their hopes would one day be eroded. As riverine dwellers, they have always placed their faith in education, nature, and above all, in the educated individuals of their village. The local schools have been a beacon of hope for the impoverished villagers, where their sons and daughters receive an education. However, their tranquillity was shattered one fateful day when they received distressing news—the road was on the verge of being washed away that very night.

The area most severely affected is Afala village, where the mighty Brahmaputra River looms dangerously close. The riverbank now stands a mere 20 feet away from the road, with one section menacingly angling towards the lower part of the village. On the other side of the eroding road lies Afala Mising High School (Amalgamated), the alma mater of many individuals who have gone on to establish themselves in their respective fields.

Last Friday, the villagers appeared perplexed and confused, yet resolute in their determination to save the E.N.D road. The stakes were high—for them, it meant the potential loss of everything: their homes, their livelihoods, and their way of life. Personally, my utmost concern lay with my cherished high school, where I had received my education. The mere thought of the school being washed away if the road were to break sent shivers down my spine.

Despite valiant efforts, the embankments proved feeble, and neither the porcupines nor the geo tubes proved effective. The once-distant riverbank, unseen from the road, now stretches perilously close, encroaching upon the woodlands where young girls once gathered logs and ferns. Cows freely roamed the area, with the elusive tiger rarely venturing near. Cowboys skillfully climbed trees, harvesting fruits and finding respite beneath the sprawling branches of plum trees. The forest resounded with the melodies of their songs, as they sang Oi:nitom in unison.

However, my anxiety eased when a relative informed me that the water level had receded, reducing the risk of road erosion. Nonetheless, floodwaters persisted, and it is imperative that we express our gratitude to all the dedicated personnel from various offices who tirelessly worked to restore the eroded road. Special commendation is due to Mr. Shantiram Panging, the president of Disangmukh Gaon Panchayat, and Mr. Sanjib Phulkonwar, the officer in charge of Disangmukh outpost, for their active involvement in the restoration efforts. We must also laud the villagers who steadfastly laboured, refusing to allow the floodwaters to erode their hopes. Hail DONYI: POLO!

Life is beautiful

Life Is Beautiful. Accept Its Greatness. | BeLimitless

LIFE is beautiful, really beautiful. But it actually depends on us how we make it. As we go on naturally doing our duties and becoming older day by day, we try to become more and more active or sometimes worried- worried about our future and for the next generation. At some point of time, we pass our time in daydreaming thinking that life will be like this like that! This daydreaming does not become reality because real dreams come only at night. The night is not the day so everything is not seen and undisclosed things become / may be surprising. Not everybody takes a risk and even try to take it. But the roads leading to nowhere are not always dangerous. Here exploration of what is becoming might be very much helpful in trying one's luck. Luck again is unpredictable. So, relying on luck is again misguiding.

Life needs direction. Before thinking of the direction, one has to brood over what one's life wants and what kind of direction it requires. Direction to life is like that of good or bad food one intakes. Eating proper food will make one healthy and bad sick. If we say after Bacon, it is like how we trim the Sapling and cut the weeds to give it growing. I think life can receive direction from many sources. One very important source , many will agree with me, maybe spiritual guidance or spiritual upliftment. Our body can be tuned with the help of Yoga, exercises and planned work out, but our mind can be streamlined into the world of a mystic experience only through some spiritual practices.  I can warn you not to think of  Chanting Mantras and listening to Spiritual Gurus' lectures only.  Why can not we go beyond that - I urge you to think. You know what can be those other means of relishing our soul and mind.

The soul is beyond the mind and the mind beyond the body. A healthy body can keep your mind cool and happy and sound mind can help you achieve soulful life- that is spirituality. It is like a stout man or a rich man having no peaceful mind or a beautiful room with no proper ventilation. Now let me speak on the other means or practices that we can do to have /do spirituality.

We know that a simple act of kindness is a blessing. Thus any simple acts can lead /be an act of spirituality. However, it must be accompanied by kindness from the part of the doer. It is not that we will sit and pray by the bay or the riverbank, it may be helping somebody to know the value of life is also a step forward to spirituality. Helping somebody to know the worth of life also an act.............. You cannot help everybody by giving money but we help everybody to realise the value and beauty of smiling by smiling at him. In the same way, we can let people understand how mercy a good quality by showing him mercy for the sin he has committed.

The positive energy we like to expect from others has to start from you -your own. Do not blame others, be blamed sometimes. Let us keep doing such simple acts so that the breeze that we breathe will carry the positive vibration ( soulful energy)and will be inhaled by some blessed body.
